Hugh Taylor – Don’t be in a Rush To Back His Selections 6th June

What a couple of days!!
Needed a puncture repaired yesterday on my wife’s car so was only able to post the results but did manage to get the bets on and today I was caught up in that disaster area called Oxford with no way round it as my last delivery this morning was in Bicester. So I am sat with a great big Gin and Tonic
This post will serve as both information and results
Wednesday saw a good winner in Phoenix Passion yielding a £6.75 profit giving an overall profit for the month of £7.36.

Hugh Taylor tipped 3 horses yesterday and the same format for my bets remains the same with the exception of Half Moon Rising which runs in the 5:10 at Haydock and is first to run and is an e/w bet. For this I worked out the stake needed for the £5.00 profit and simply did an e/w bet at S.P doubling the stake so to speak.
As I mentioned Half Moon Rising ran first at Haydock in the 5:10
Advised Odds were 28/1 (29.0)
By the time i was able to get a bet on the odds had dropped to 11/1 (12) so the stake was 45p E/W this being a total of 90p

I did think that this might have had a halfway chance as SkyBet were paying 4 places, should have known better but the odds did drift not as much to the advised price but to 18/1 (19.0)
Next on the card was Alpen Power running at Chelmsford in the 6:45 and I backed it for £1.50 at S.P. which means that the odds available must have been around 10/3 (4.33) from an advised price of 9/2

As you can see the price continued to shorten until post time
Finally and when I was on my way to Dagenham for my first delivery Divine Breath ran in the 8:15 also at Chelmsford. Backed at S.P. at odds relating to a £5.00 profit of 11/8 (2.38) down from advised odds of 2/1 (3.0)

The odds recovered a bit, not to the level of the advised price but enough to give me an extra £1.34 over my £5.00 target.
So another win yesterday has increased my Monthly profit to £11.30.

Next post will be Todays selections and bet amounts.

ITV7 Monday

I just picked my seven winners for @itv7. Don’t miss your free chance to win the jackpot #ITV7 https://itv7.itv.com/play

Through the card at Kempton tonight 👍👍👍

Using the In-Play Running Tool to help pick your ITV7

Worth a quid?

As well as backing to lay and DObing information that can be taken from the in-running trading tool there is a whole host of information and form about every runner that day – each day. This post is about selecting the “Winners” for todays ITV7

First race on the card is 13:50 Newmarket

Click pic to enlarge

You can see from the screenshot above that there are 7 runners in this race and the forecast favourite is Masekela ridden by Oisin Murphy In the Following Screenshot I have expanded the details of this horse to reveal all of its previous runs (which in this case is just 4)

Click Pic to enlarge

The information which I deem valuable in this is has the horse had any success over the distance run to day and at the course in question. I know that this information is included at a glance in the racecard provided by the bookies or racing press but this is just a “D” or “CD” entry you then have to go and find the races, going, and jockey on a different page. The In-Running Trading Tool has it all in one place as you can see from the screenshot above
In the expanded section you can see that Murphy has ridden 3 times, the horse has never run over a mile distance, It has won twice over various track conditions and distance. The Newmarket run in July has a note of interest and next stop is the sporting life website to access the race archives and watch the race as I suspect that looking at this Masekela was only beaten by a head and may have won given another furlong. (look at the in play low price I dont think that it was leading but some worried traders might have thought it was close.

Newmarket 3:15 10 July 2021 race results

If you click the link above it will take you to the Sporting Life results page for that race and you will be able to watch the race (You will need a free account but because it is part of the SKYBET group you can log in using your sky bet log in details)
Next stop is http://www.horseracing.net to see how many times the horse has been tipped and/or napped

Click Pic to enlarge

It has been tipped 6 times and napped once

I have don this for all 7 races and these are my results

  1. Newmarket 13:50 Masekela
  2. Haydock 14:05 Nugget
  3. Newmarket 14:25 Sacred Bridge
  4. Chester 14:35 Mossbawn
  5. Haydock 14:40 Jawwal
  6. Newmarket 15:00 Asymetric

DOBbing the 5 highest priced tipped horses using the In-Running Trading Tool

“Dobbing” or backing to lay a horse to double your money or bust your bank is a popular technique for making profitable trades out of losing bigger-priced horses. The knack however is picking the right horses in the right races
The “In-Running Trading Tool” has an excellent page that outlines potential horses that could trade at half the B.S.P.
For a trade to successfully “DOB” the In-Play Low must reach half the B.S.P. – or half the price you backed the horse at if you got a bigger price (or lower) before the off for instance:
If you backed a horse on the exchange at odds of 11.00 (10/1) for £10 you would need to place a lay bet order of £20 at odds of 5.5
The In-Running Trading Tool gives some useful advice and provides all the information required to make an informed decision.
Dobbing short-priced horses is possible if the odds are above evens but the price needed to lay a horse that you backed at odds of 2.5 (6/4) would need to trade in-play at a low of 1.25 (4/1 ON!)
Backing higher priced front running horses can be a better option but sorting through the information provided can quickly become confusing and cause mistakes to be made.
To this end I have done a little record keeping and have analysed the top priced top tipped horses which are easily found on the Horseracing.net website on the tips page
On 1st September using the criteria outlined on the In-Running Trading Tool there was just 1 contender
15:50 Uttoxeter; Ship of the Fen
This horse had a B.S.P. of 10 and traded in-play at a low of 4.0 easily passing the 5.0 lay bet order. Thats 1 out of 1
Horseracing.net actuall lists 5 horses in the highest priced tipped horses and the other 4 faired as follows even though they did not meet the In-Running Trading Tool Criteria
15:05 Gowran Park; No Show
B.S.P. 10 In-play Low 3.75 DOB – Yes
15:30 Lingfield Park; Dourado
B.S.P. 26.83 In-play Low 7.0 DOB – Yes
15:30 Lingfield Park; Smart Qibili
B.S.P. 140.0 In-play Low 120 DOB – No
16:20 Uttoxeter; Begoodtoyourslf
B.S.P. 6.73 In-Play low 7.2 DOB – No

If we had Dobbed all of the 5 selections we would have been in profit (3 out of 5)
Just as a footnote to these 5 horses No Show also ran the day after and won carrying a 3lb penalty!!

Update 100% win rate

Yesterdays Blog post “Using the In-Running Trading Tool with the Racing Press Top Tipped Horses to determine “Back to Lay” selections” gave, in some detail the workings behind narrowing down the back to lay dilemma.
Fridays selections produced a 100% success rate. So how did yesterdays selections fair
Just to remind you these were
14:00 Ascot; Alotaibi
14:20 Haydock; Valley Forge
18:30 Wolverhampton; Loves Me Likearock

Alotaibi was forecast at an S.P. of 1.33 and you would be excused from thinking that with 10 tips from the National Racing Press “Experts” that this is surely one of those banker moments – Alas it was not to be as Wanees came home in front! However Alotaibi did have a B.S.P. of 1.85 which was 13 ticks more than the industry S.P. and reached an in-play Low of 1.4! This was in fact a 45 tick drop – more than enough to meet our requirements of 1.7 for 15 ticks and a small profit
Valley Forge with 11 tips and a NAP pushing it along and an attractive forecast S.P. of 3.00 (2/1) many a punter would think that it is “money back time” This was not to be unfortunately as Valley Forge managed just 3rd out of a field of 6. But as it turned out all was not lost as the B.S.P. was 2.51 and his in-play low dipped to 2.00 giving a tick drop of 25. This gave an in running profit of 12.8%
With 2 out of 2 losers as far as the straight punters were concerned, I on the other hand have an overall profit of 10% on my stakes.
The evening meeting at Wolverhampton and my last selection in this system was most tipped horse with 12 tips, Loves Me Likearock. Winning by just half a length very nearly made it 3 disasters for the favourite backers. Going off at 2.07 at the Betfair exchange traded to the lowest possible at 1.01 and another win for the system and finishing up 10% up on my stakes

There are just 2 selections today (5th Sept)
14:20 Perth; Minella Trump (10 tips)
14:30 Fontwell; Bigbadmattie (7 tips)
